I made it to the finals of the Student Innovation challenge from the World Haptics conference 2023, together with two teammates from the Haptics and Soft Robotics Lab. This challenge was done in collaboration with the companies SenseGlove and Razer. For the finals we were invited to a 5 day long hackathon at SenseGlove’s office in Delft. We used the Razer HyperSense’s and the SenseGlove Nova’s haptic capabilities to facilitate non-verbal communication in social VR settings. For example, the HyperSense headset has haptic motors in each earcup, which were used as a radar to find others in crowded virtual spaces. We also got to visit the World Haptics conference to showcase our project and listen to presentations.
